On March 27, 2025, we had the honor of organizing another The Association of Women in Data Science (AWDS) Belgrade event, this time at Microsoft Garage in New Belgrade. The location – perfect. The view – spectacular. The organization – flawless (not to brag, but it really was).
Over 100 people attended, enjoying a fantastic atmosphere, insightful discussions, and excellent networking opportunities.
What Did We Talk About?
We kicked off the event with a panel discussion on:
“Large Language Models, Chatbots, and Other Applications of Machine Learning in Text Processing”
The panel was moderated by Branislava Subotin (Infostud), who is also part of our organizing team, and featured Ivana Milovanović (Microsoft), Marija Gavrilović (Etihad), Miloš Košprdić (The Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia), and Slobodan Marković (UNDP).

We discussed the applications of AI models in understanding and generating text, ethics in NLP, challenges, and the future of this field. The discussion was dynamic, filled with interesting questions and real-world examples—AI is no longer just a trend but a reality that is transforming industries before our eyes.
AI in Education: A Look Into the Future
The second part of the event featured a lecture on the application of artificial intelligence and robotics in education, delivered by Jelica Ristić (Faculty of Teacher Education, University of Belgrade). She explored how AI is reshaping learning environments, enhancing classroom experiences, supporting educators, and inspiring new forms of creativity. We also had the opportunity to learn about innovative projects from the Faculty of Education, demonstrating how these technologies are already making a difference in schools.

Statistics and Life
Now, let’s add a little probability into the mix—I met someone born on the same day as me! Given that there are 365 days in a year, the probability of this happening isn’t that low, but still—a fun coincidence. Even more interesting, one of our fellow organizers was celebrating her birthday that very day! This brings us back to the classic birthday paradox: in a group of 23 people, there’s a 50% chance that two will share the same birthday. Looks like we confirmed the theory!

Amazing Women, Amazing Stories
This event wouldn’t have been the same without the amazing women from our organizing AWDS team:
Branislava Subotin, Ana Ninković, Isidora Gatarić, Bojana Todorović, Tijana Radović, Jovana Petrović, Aleksandra Božić, and myself.

Thank you all for your energy, enthusiasm, and the incredible stories we shared—some of them wouldn’t fit into a blog post, but they’ll definitely stay in our memories!
Special Thanks
A huge thank you to Microsoft, Helloworld, WMG, and Infostud for their incredible support in making this event possible.
A special shoutout to Aleksandra Alorić and Katarina Kevac from Microsoft for their warm hospitality and support throughout the event—your kindness and professionalism made all the difference!
And, of course, thank you to everyone who attended and made this event unforgettable! See you at the next AWDS gathering! 🚀
