Picture this: I’m not just an observer—I’m right in the heart of it all as one of the ambassadors of Women in Data Science (WiDS) Belgrade. This isn’t just another initiative; it’s a transformative voyage, and I’m honored to be a part of its crew.
Let me introduce you to our dynamic team of ambassadors: Ana Ninkovic, Ana Dukic, Isidora Gataric, Tijana Radovic, Jovana Petrovic, and myself. Together, we’re on a mission to champion diversity, fuel innovation, and empower individuals in the dynamic world of data science.
Our journey this year has been nothing short of extraordinary as we’ve orchestrated a series of captivating events, each meticulously designed to spark dialogue and catalyze change. It all began with “Žene Nauka Podaci,” a vibrant celebration of women’s achievements in science and data. Picture a bustling crowd at the Rajiceva Shopping Center in Belgrade, eagerly absorbing insights from powerhouse speakers like Natali Delic (Telekom Srbija), Nevena Nikolic (Microsoft), Marija Gavrilovic (Etihad Airways), and Isidora Gataric (Wireless Media Group). Under the guidance of the indefatigable Ana Ninkovic (ASEE), our International Women’s Day panel was a testament to the remarkable strides women have made in the field. And yes, we had the generous support of Starbucks coffee shop, where we indulged in plenty of free coffee and lively discussions!
But our odyssey didn’t end there. Our collaboration with Playstudios Europe led to the riveting DATA|WOMAN tech talk, where we delved deep into the latest tech trends and ethical considerations in Serbian data science. With a lineup of luminaries including Ana Dukic (Rivian), Mina Petrovic (ERSTE), Andreja Gluscevic (Office for IT and e-Government of RS), and Aleksandra Aloric, the atmosphere was electric, and ideas flourished under the adept leadership of our very own Ana Ninkovic (ASEE).
Looking ahead, we’re thrilled to announce our upcoming Summer Data Science Camp—an immersive experience tailor-made for high school students hungry for knowledge.
The Center for the Promotion of Science and the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation, with the support of the NCR Foundation, and in collaboration with Women in Data Science, are organizing the Summer Science Camp “Data Science”. From unraveling the mysteries of artificial intelligence to exploring the depths of neural networks, this camp promises to be an exhilarating voyage of discovery and growth, all set against the inspiring backdrop of the Naucni klub Centra za promociju nauke from May 24th to 26th.
